Year of the Dragon: Chagall says kaddish

2005 is a Rooster year, like the year I was born. But spiritually, I have christened it Year of the Dragon. I am a dragon who, after sleeping forty years, lifts heavily into the air, roaring, dripping flame.

Eugenio Barba says, When you think you are close, you are very far away. When you think you are far away, you are very very close.

I have been asleep, as far as theatre is concerned, all 2004. The Odin, Nanda Devi, and Dream of a Ridiculous Man were sparkling dreams in that somnambulant year.

Jeff is moving out February 1st. I feel a great expansion of breath -- the rightness for him on his path, and for me on mine.
when everything around
you changes, so will you --
heron stalking trout

the nowness of now
is the only gift you can
give an empty heart

ironwood is not
what the carvers choose, but it
lasts -- mists pearling dawn

grey dragon, sides as
fat and steaming as a
pony, in your straw

finally there is
no stable, no robe, no tune
but wind against rock

mussorgsky moans, van
gogh screams, chagall says kaddish --
we must rehearse now

I thought this might be of interest to you... I know this is a brand new year for you and you don't know what is in store... It seems like things are breaking through the surface. When I read your blog I'm highly interested in everything you talk about relating to travel, maybe it's because you come alive when your alone in a foreign country there to learn and take what you can. You should go to your wind and ice country, feel your theatre...

So in this breath, I thought you might be interested in this:

It's like an advent calandar sort of, every day in December you have a chance to buy airfare to a city in europe for $245.00 round trip! The best thing about this is it's totally spur of the moment, you only have one day per city and you don't know what the city is ahead of time. Today I clicked on and clicked the little house w/ the 8 on it since it's the 8th and the trip is to Amsterdam! :) There you go, maybe they will have a city in iceland??

Great post. I love that SAS site. I subscribed; they now send me a Christmas house/destination city each day. I don't want to go back to Europe, though, till I've tended my foundation -- finances, house, body. Next time I go, I want to go for longer.
